Periyar University Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE)
Periyar University’s Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), also known as PRIDE, was established in the 2001-2002 academic year. The centre offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, providing flexible learning opportunities through distance education. As part of its student-centric approach, the CDOE ensures that course materials are delivered to students well in advance, aiding in a smooth learning experience.
Periyar University, established by the Government of Tamil Nadu on 17th September 1997, is located in Salem and covers four districts: Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, and Krishnagiri. It operates under the provisions of the Periyar University Act, 1997 and has achieved a significant academic status, being reaccredited with an "A++" grade by NAAC in 2021 and securing the 56th rank among Indian universities in the MoE NIRF 2024 rankings.
Named after the great social reformer E.V. Ramasamy, known as Thanthai Periyar, the university follows his ideals to bring about holistic social change through knowledge dissemination. The university's motto, "Arival Vilayum Ulagu" (Wisdom Maketh the World), reflects its commitment to fostering wisdom and societal advancement.
