Established in 1963 as Malaviya Regional Engineering College Jaipur, the institute was a collaborative initiative between the Government of India and the Government of Rajasthan. On 26 June 2002, it achieved the esteemed status of a National Institute of Technology, signifying its commitment to excellence in engineering education. Further solidifying its reputation, the institute was recognized as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament on 15 August 2007.
